Dumb Radio Question - 10/21/17 12:30 AM

73 Dodge Dart with factory am,fm radio is on am band. How do you switch it to fm ? I've turned and pushed all the knobs. And I have no owners manual.

From memory, I thought you turned the right chrome knob behind the black knob.

Mine must be broken because that doesn't do it. Thanks for the info.

Yep, the RH inner knob has to be turned to throw the switch. It is possible the pot metal linkage piece inside the radio has broken .
Unfortunately if that is the case , that linkage piece is unique to the A body AM FM only . I have had several over the years come in over here
with that piece broken .

If there is a "pot metal" piece that easily breaks perhaps it could be duplicated by the new 3-D printing with one of the new semi-metallic printable materials. I had a local "Maker-Space" print me a small helical gear at a cost of $32 and I was impressed

A lot of times the chromed, pot metal ring slips over it's plastic center. So you could just be spinning the ring on it's center.

Worst case, the linkage is frozen and needs some lube.
