Installed LED plate lights - 10/13/17 06:42 PM

Installed some LED94 plate lights in the Journey. One kept going on and off and when i looked the standard bulbs started to melt the plastic as usual.Wife ordered like 5 of them for about 5 bucks. Now to see how bright they are at night.Might change some in the dash lights in my 65.I know they do light up pure white.Rocky

I used LED's from here. They sure are brighter. They have an easy site to navigate and see what you need. I put them in one at a time and tested them. No matter which way I put the blade style in, they worked. Some others are polarity sensitive, but don't think these are.

If you do go with LED for turn signals and hazard lights, don't forget they need an electronic flasher installed. I ordered them from superbright and they didn't make the clicking noise. I had one from Autozone for the hazards and put it on the turn signal one and it made the clicking noise. I went to Autozone and picked up another one for the flasher and much cheaper. Now they click when used as hazards or blinkers. With the original one, they just turned on and stayed on, not enough current to make them flash. Color coordinate your bulb colors with the lens color is what their site recommends. The only other issue I had was the 1157A for my front didn't fit into the socket for some reason. All other bulbs were no issues. Here are some side by side of standard and LED and the flasher I used.

Here are some before and afters. Shifter plate may get a different one later, but for now it works. I may want to go green since the lens is tinted green for 1970. The dash dim pic is in the garage at night with lights off and door shut. The other shot is in the day time with lights on and door open. What a difference.
