Torque shaft adapter B-Body question

Have headers on my motor and have TTi's shifter adapter to go over the headers. The instructions says to modify the rod for the adapter to go to the tranny. The question is: Is there a different length rod for the tranny? Reason is, it seems mine might be too short to reach the transmission selector arm (on transmission). Tried several times to edit and post a picture but no good

pics need to be in the right "place" on the computer for you to load em (I don't know how to explain it). Likely you would need to weld an extension on the rod so it will reach & as you know make sure the angles/leverage is correct.

I just don't see why you should have to "weld an extension" to the rod. I know many guys has this and have never heard of doing this. I'll have to go look at it again this weekend

If I am reading this correctly, the rod does not hook to the trans. The adapter does. Maybe you should give TTI a call, they were cool guys at the Van Nuys show. May be worth a try? I didn't know they made an adapter. I would have used it! I had to buy a $350 dollar cable shifter.

The rod goes from the adapter to the tranny. Tried to post a picture but after playing with the size several times, to make it fit in my post, I gave up. Yes, the instructions say to modify the rod. Basically, bend it downward to reach where the rod connects to the tranny since the adapter goes up and over the header. Doesn't say to cut and weld in a extension. I didn't and couldn't give TTi a call to see what they say but guess will have to on Monday. I'll be going to my friend's shop and we are going to look at it again. Was hoping someone on here had done this and did the "modification".

Like I said, I definitely would have used it as well. I didn't even know they had such a thing. I will say that their headers fit and look and perform well but are a royal PITA for working on the car.

Yes, showing the rod that needs to be modified for the use of the torque shaft adapter that goes over the headers.

That rod connects directly with the factory torque shaft and is suppose to result in a straight pull-push on the trans lever.

If the "adapter" raises the torque shaft connecting point, the circled rod will need to have a bend or a curve added so it will maintain the straight pull-push on the trans lever. Depending on how much the torque shaft is raised, and how much adjustment the circled rod has, you may also need to add length to the circled rods length to be able for the trans lever to be able to reach all the trans gears, particularly park or low which are at the extremes of the trans lever movement.

If you were to look sideways at the circled rod as it would be mounted in the car, it will need to have an upward bend added near the torque shaft end (closer to the torque shaft and more radical then the current bend), so that it will connect to the raised torque shaft, and still be in a straight line (height wise) to the trans lever.

If the rod is bent incorrect, it will probably not allow the trans lever to go into park (farthest forward position), or will want to keep pulling it out of park.
If the newly bent rod is too short, you probably won't be able to shift down into low (the farthest rearward position) and if its way too short, you may not be able to shift into 2nd either. Gene
