Aftermarket Retainer ? - 10/07/17 12:48 AM
Aftermarket Retainers with oem valves and locks.... is it possible in any form or fashion?
Ive some hughes retaines for a bit more height and outwardly they seem to fit and are a bit more snug then the oem retainers?
Any red flags here?
Thanks.

part number of the hughes retainer would go a very long way to answering the question.
Hughes lists 9 different part numbers for retainers

Your very right.
Ive got the 1252 and 1254 retainers to consider.
Gonna use the 1110 spring, maybe the 1111 spring.
509/280 mopar solid cam
This is my budget but new small valve 318 heads and I have the new oem valves, did the 3 way and a small back cut on the valves.
Kinda hard to find aftermarket single groove valves that are not costly, the 2.02/1.60 sets are dirt cheap since there so common.

Ok, both 1252 and 1254 are 7 degree retainers, which is what stock locks need.
Odds are the Hughes retainers were made with a bit more care and on newer tooling than the original retainers.

Thank You, I can get new keepers off ebay cheap since the old ones ive got seem a bit worn.
There is only like a 2 gram weight difference as well.
