Cleaning Aluminum Intake - 10/05/17 09:03 PM
Any ideas on taking the paint off a Victor intake without damaging the aluminum. I know you can have it blasted but hoping I could just soak it in some sort of chemical to clean it.

Paint stripper. It may take multiple applications and a stiff brush to get it 100% clean.

Depending on how pourous the casting is will determine if paint stripper will get it all off. Glass bead would be my choice.

A heavy coat of aircraft paint stripper and wrap in plastic to keep it moist would be my suggestion. After that scrape and/or pressure wash. For final clean, by hand or even a dishwasher.
Glass bead can work well on manifolds... but very thorough cleaning required after. If any glass gets into a running engine, not good.
