05 dakota oil light comes one when starting truck and stays on. if i shut if and restart its off. no engine noises as it ovious i have presure. bad sending unit?

Time to get a mechanical gauge to check it.But it probally is the switch.But why take a chance as a test gauge is cheap.Rocky

My 04 Dakota with 3.6 same thing.. turned out to be the oil pressure sending unit. I installed a new sender .that was about 30K miles ago.. still running fine at 179K miles..I didn't have a gauge , so I pulled the sender and watched it while the wiffie started it up..oil flew out .. put in a new sender ,, problem fixed !!

it was the sending unit, changed it yesterday
