2006 dakota pcm question

2006 dakota pcm question - 07/22/17 12:23 AM

have a glitch in the system that is not sending the correct voltage to the new transmission. Wires have been verified to be in good shape, has anyone used a remanufactured PCM? I see them on the net and they say no need to bring to a dealer. Other possible issue might be with the integrated control module.
Any insight would be great
Thanks

https://www.automodulesource.com/

I bought one for a Jeep Liberty from here. Reasonably priced, sent them the VIN and it came plug and play. I would buy another from them if I needed to.

Update, took to the dealer and they found a ground pin out in the pcm, fixed that and got about 300 miles on it and the same issue came up with an engine light.
Took it back now they say its the PCM and want $1500 to fix
need advise here on other options like a reman PCM
any help would be great,,,, Thanks

Check around in your area for a pcm rebuilder. I got mine redone locally for $375. Took it in and a day later got it back.

I went through this last year on a 2007 Dakota. Mine pcm went bad and took out part of the trans that shifts the gears. Its like a servo pack in the transmission. Get a new pcm I believe I paid like $450.00 installed. You could get it rebuilt and do it yourself also. This is a known problem with Dakotas.

They didn't tell me just that the pcm was bad.

I just ordered one off E bay for $250 and will install my self
Said its "plug and play" so we will see if it fixes the problem

BTW rebuilt transmission, new convertor and solenoid pack
Ran good for about 300 miles then didn't want to take off
in low gear.

On my 2007 Dakota it was the solenoid pack that crapped out.
They put in a solenoid pack first and the pcm crapped the new
solenoid pack. They had to put a second solenoid pack in and the pcm at the same time. Its possible you will be replacing the solenoid pack again. I hope this helps it was very frustrating for me. Took like 2 weeks to fix everything.

So the remanufactured PCM did not fix the problem, I have a total of 8 codes all transmission related, I think it might be in the wiring harness? not sure, but I thought I would update in case someone else has the same problem or any ideas

Re: 2006 dakota pcm question - 10/26/17 01:39 AM

only one code P0882 TCM power signal low, apparently the PCM is getting power to it but not sending it out to the trans relay,
I will post next update, any ideas Im all ears

Re: 2006 dakota pcm question - 01/12/18 02:33 AM

Figured I would update we ran another relay to bypass old one, Now intermittently will throw a code of P0883 High voltage instead of low.
Check engine light will be on, sometimes the trans will act up but if we shut it off and restart it drives fine. Hate gremlins!!
