15 x 7 Polished Trim Rings - 06/28/17 07:30 PM

I have been unable to find a set of 15 x 7 Polished Trim Rings, P/N 3461043 for my 1970 'Cuda. Currently I have a set of “mint” Brushed Trim Rings, P/N 3461222, correct for '71, but not a '70. The only polished trim rings I have been able to find (new) are the narrower 2.75 inches wide variety. My question is, since the correct polished trim rings in show condition are virtually impossible to find, has anyone ever tried to polish a set of brushed trim rings into a "polished" set? I'm not even sure it can be done, removing 100% of the "brush strokes" and creating a flawless surface? If someone has done this, I would love to know who would be the person to contact for this service? Thanks

What model Cuda and what is the SPD? It may have come with brushed rings. If you are looking for a flawless surface polished trim ring then don't start with brushed rings.

Nanket, not sure what you mean by SPD. I have a 1970 AAR Cuda, #43 build sheet code, April 10th build date. I understand ideally I should not start with brushed rings for a polished look, but brushed is what I have, the 043 rings are vitally non-existent.

Some AAR's and TA's came with brushed rings. Unless you have proof that yours came with polished rings, I would use them brushed.

I know there is a controversy over whether AAR's came with brushed or polished trim rings, I suspect they came with both. However, the build sheet clearly calls out for polished. And, since this car is a "judged show car" unless I can prove to the judges that it actually was built with brushed rings (and I can't), I'm pretty much locked into finding the rings the build sheet says it was built with. I will put this out there though, if anyone with a AAR/TA that has a mint set of polished trim rings and believes their AAR/TA should have brushed, I will gladly trade my mint set of brushed for their polished set and give some cash to boot! Actually, I would make that deal to anyone with a set of mint polished 15 X 7 (full 3" width)trim rings (P/N 3461043).

Still looking for the 15x7 (3461043) polished trim . Some people who have thought for sure they had the correct trim ring, did not (for a 6.5" wide wheel). I have had more than one person then ask me what cars used the 15 x 6.5 wheel/trim ring and I don't know. Can someone here answer that question for me? It must have been a wheel offered in '72 or later?

If you do it right, they can be polished and "no one" could tell the difference. When I finished my Superbird I had two of each, this one was brushed, can't tell it from the original polished other than the sticker number.
