Does anyone make an adapter to use a 65 speedo cable with a 69 4 speed trans
Thanks

Can you change out the speedo gear holders? I don't know but it might be worth looking at.

A '66-7 cable is exactly what you need. Will bolt right in

Isn't the 65 based on an entirely different gear in the trans.. the gear that drives the speedo pinion?
That means the 65 uses one style speedo pinion and the 66 up uses a different style. So if you find a cable that will work... would the speedometer work Correctly??

Am I understanding your question correctly?

Been through it a few times and speedometer works fine with on '65-older and '66 newer trans as long as you have the correct speedo gear of course.

The cable works as a straight link so it has to work correctly. It has nothing to do with the gear in the trans other than being turned by it. All the cable has to do is hook up right on both ends.

Actually, every 65 speedo cable I personally have ever seen has the adaptor essentially molded onto the end of the cable itself. Never seen one with a removable cable housing. The 66 and up units I'm familiar with have all had the adaptor housing and cable as separate pieces. That unitized type cable construction is why us 65 guys have so much fun trying to find the correct gears.

OR... if he's suggesting to use the 66 cable to install a later, (post 65), trans into a 65 car - then I can readily believe that will work.

Okay, so after I answered I went back and re-read the original post again and the reply that a 66 vintage cable will work to hook the 65 speedometer to a 69 trans is correct. Sorry, I got sidetracked by my frustration finding correct gears for my 65 stuff. Anyhoo, I went and took a pic of the tranny end on a 65 and previous years tranny, it's tacked on here.
