Rear main bearing oil seal kit question....

This piece is in the kit (red arrow). Anyone know what it is for? Thanks!

i got one of those peices in a kit some time ago,all i can tell you is if you throw it at the garbage can it will hit the edge never to be seen again.

Those two pieces are stock on all LA SB Mopars I've worked on, they go in the cap to seal the main cap mating surface to the block

No that is not what they are for......

The Mopar B and RB share the same rear main seal as the Slant-6 and the part in question is for the Slant-6 application retainer seal.

Curious as to what brand rear seal that is and where you got it?

There is a new Fel Pro seal that I got that has a more rigid side seal BS 40240.I have yet to install mine but I think it will be better.

They were in a Fel Pro rear seal kit that I bought about 3 months ago for my Hemi, and yes they went in the garbage can.

in the garbage can ? you mean you don't save "everything" like i do ? ya just "never" know....... i grew up around people that went through the depression, and unfortunately, that mentality was ingrained in me. nothing ever gets tossed, and i whine and crab because i got too much junk. go figure....

I'm still going through the Depression and I still throw them away.
