How much of the newer {2000} era 8.25/9.25 hsgs works with the 70's stuff? notice lots in wrecking yards all of sudden .

That's a good question, especially since newer versions have the bung for the RWAL sensor...

95 and down on the 8.25, not sure on the 9.25. 96 up have a different spine count axle.

Some of the Jeep Cherokees (XJ) used the 8 1/4 axle. Someone told me these will bolt into the A bodies. The Cherokee axle is wider than the A body axle. Wheels with different off-set may be required.
The 72-93 trucks had the same spring spacing as the A body and Cherokee. The axle would be on top of the leaf springs which would lower the back of the truck. The Jeep axle is more narrow than the truck axle.
