thoughts on 11 inch front brakes - extra parts

I ordered rebuild kits for the front drums on the 69 rr. It came with extra parts. Should I install just what the brake/ drum had ? Any pics of completed layout/ drum laying around so I can see wheat it should be. Thanks -

did I do this right ? the blue spring is the extra part ???

All looks good in the pic. that blue one is a return spring. they (2 of em) go from the upper part of the shoe web at a ~45 deg angle up to the anchor at 12 O clock. One extra got thrown in by mistake, possibly one for another app?. I'm assuming you got (4) in your kit.

I got 8 springs in the kit. 4 browns which I used two at the top of the shoes, 2 green, which you see in the pictures, and then 2 of these stubby blue ones - the browns looked pretty much the same

when you can, post a pic of everything. we'll get it figured out.

I just did the 10 inch brakes on the wagon and I put a "disc" under the silver spring on either side of the shoes - the first springs you connect with the pin through the backing plate. This kit didn't have those - so I have the spring touching the shoe. is that acceptable ?

Also - the oval plate that you put on the top post - which then the adjuster goes over - and then the springs - I had 2 types - the ones I used you can see, and larger ones - does it matter ?

I don't see a problem with that.

Are the last 2 pictures the same or both sides, if both sides you have the brake shoes on backwards

the short brake shoes always goes to the front of the vehicle, so If the photos is a passenger side assembly it should work.

Right, adjusters to the rear, short shoes to front.

Just looks like a double post to me.

Should have 4 round discs. One goes between the spring and the shoe.
It keeps the pin located.
