Oil slinger installation w/ timing chain tensioner

Oil slinger installation w/ timing chain tensioner - 01/24/05 12:35 AM

Has anyone installed the crank mounted oil slinger disk along with the Mopar timing chain tensioner? On my poly 318, the disk rubs on the tensioner arm.

I'm assuming I can just leave the disk out? Will I have an increased chance of leaks at the front seal with the disk not installed?

looks like that won,t work. if the balancer snout is perfect you should be ok without it. if you have a hydraulic supply store close they might have better double lip seal than your stock one. good luck

***** FIXED!! *****

After looking at the tensioner arm, I figured out a solution. I trimmed a small notch into the bottom of the arm and got the clearance I needed. Super easy.

Are you afraid of you seal leaking or what. That is the reason for the slinger - not to oil the chain but to keep excessive oil from the front seal. New seal materials rarly leak without it and they were only installed intermittantly OEM. Some did and some didn't.

Leaks at the front seal was my main concern. I know installing it is no guaranty against leaks, but it couldn't hurt.
