Viking Rear Shock Adjustments For Street - 04/13/17 02:54 PM

I just wanted to check in to see if anyone has any experience with adjusting the Viking rear DA shocks on a street car. I was just curious what you ended up with for the rear settings.

I have tested some last year with my Challenger with my #043 rear springs (6 leafs), old P255/60R15 tires and found the following:

New to adjustable shocks and I started playing with the medium to stiffer settings (Handling):

A) 6 (comp) and 8 (rebound): The car had a soft bounce to it like my old worn out Monroes.

B) 6/12: The bounce got faster

C: 8/14: Very bouncy

D) 10/14: Very fast bounce while driving

E) 12/16: The bounce was so fast that if felt like a low rider. Laughing all the way back to my garage. It was horrible.

Now I decided to test with the Viking Ride Quality/Street range:

F) 3/5: Huge comfort difference up to 75mph. Slight bounce

G) 2/4: This got rid of the slight bounce and was a comfortable ride on country roads and highway. I kept this setting for a while last Summer/Fall and took a lot of idle-WOT hits and found the traction got better. Even with the old (12+ year old) P255's, I could "feel" the tread digging in better. With the old shocks, the tires just slipped all the time from idle-WOT. Now I can feel a "little" bite in them but they still spun too much and I knew that I needed new tires.

H) 3/4: This stiffened up the ride slightly with a small amount of bounce at low speeds but not on the highway.

This year I have the same setup except for Nitto P275/60R15 tires and I want to start with 3/4 again to see how it reacts. But I have a feeling that I will end up with the 2/4 or 2/5. Once I have the ride quality set, then I will see how the shock settings and the new Nittos do for street traction from idle-WOT.

Any other experiences with these rear shocks on the street?
