Need Information - 03/30/17 12:39 AM

Hi. I need information on where to put the jack and the jack handle on my 1970 GTX. It's a tube jack. Not the t type. Any information is helpful!

Is the spare bolted down just behind the seat back, on the right side? Is there 2 square 'loops' welded on that hump behind the seat back? One on the right under the spare, and another on the left side. If so the square tube jack-upright goes inside those 2 loops. The jack handle slides inside the tube before sliding the tube in place. The base plate gets bolted down on top of the spare tire with that tire hold down bolt and big wing nut. That is how my '71 Sebring was anyway.

70 GTX/RR used 2 different jacks, T or tube depending on where your car was made, assuming this might matter to you?

go here for some pics, scroll down to 70 GTX/RR, click on pics to enlarge: http://www.nicksgarage.com/jacks.htm#bbody

The "Jacking Instructions" sticker should show you. Assuming this is a hardtop (I'm not sure on convertibles), the jack & lever are secured by a bolt-on plate under the spare wheel/tire, with a threaded rod through the wheel center, with the jack base above the wheel, and the wingnut securing it all.
If you don't want the jack & handle scratching paint you'll probably need to put something between them and the trunk floor; same might apply to base & wheel.
