A01 Ignition light delay relay mounting location

A01 Ignition light delay relay mounting location - 02/13/17 03:03 PM

I am crawling under the dash looking for the block connecter used for the relay noted above. Have no idea what it looks like and where it is supposed to mount. Any clues?

Pics of the block connector and coloured wire would help a lot.

Thanks

I think it is taped to the column if memory serves me right. The service manual will show the shape, and wires for the connector.

That's exactly what I needed to see. 2 yellow wires and a pink wire going to the block connector and, of course, the relay is pushed into the connector. I'll have a look around the column to see if I can find the block connector there. Thanks guys!

They are spade lock terminals in a black block connector. I opened the link that you provided and had a good long look at the picture. It's somewhat clear. Anyway, I do have the relay which I was fortunate to get at the dealer and 2 of the terminals are parallel to each other and the pink one is at a right angle to the others. All I have to do is find that block connector, if it's somewhere near the steering column, and plug the relay into it and my ignition light and map light should both come on and time off when the door is open.

i don't have a clue what car you are working on so i'm shooting in the dark based on my 69 RR. my car did not come with that light package but i loved it in my first RR many, many moons ago. i added it this car from who knows what out of a junk yard 30 some years ago. i didn't mess with the connectors when i took it out and i'm pretty sure the yellow wire had a bullet connector.

anyway, you said you found your timer relay at a dealership?? care to share that part number? i'd like to get a spare.

I"m working on a 71 RR with the A01 light group. Apparently they are still available for my car as well as for mini vans made up to the 90s. They are one and the same relay. Part # 2889565. When I ordered the relay from Southbank Dodge Chrysler, the part even came in the old style Mopar red and black box. Which just goes to prove that NOS parts are still available at the dealership.

In E bodies the time delay relay is just taped to the dash harness.

Yes, and I believe there is an older thread here on Moparts.com to help explain why.

What kind of car ?

Best I can remember , On a B body I dont think it attaches to anything except the plug. It just hangs there.

It's a B-body Plymouth. On one of the threads here the poster said that the relay gets hot and needs a heat sink so it is taped to the column. In the pic above provided by MikeMee 1331, you can see some left over tape gum from where it was taped.
