C body brake interchange ?

C body brake interchange ? - 02/16/09 08:19 PM

Question for the big car gurus... Subject is a 69 c-body, power drum brakes. Question is, would the spindles and brakes from a '78 Cordoba fit on it? I seem to recall they would, but it's not really my forte... Any help is appreciated.

no, they will not.
65-73 are the same, except the 68 and down disc are different for the lower ball joint, and are not desirable due to cost in fixing them.

The most wanted is the 73 set since it is the one piece rotors that were used on vans. Makes them less than 40 bucks for new rotors.

they make one piece rotors for the earlier years now, they just run twice as much as the 73 set.

Usually see them running for around 150-250 a set.

AndyF apparently started making some kits for them, as well as scaredbird.

if the tapered holes on the 78 spindles are smaller than the your 69 ball joint taper your machine shop could ream them out(w a tapered reamer) to fit. dont know if i'd be practical in your situation but it would be an option to consider.

No way, Cordoba knuckles aren't going to fit on a C body. Everything is wrong with that swap, height, ball joint taper, lower ball joint spacing, etc.
