Reverse manual valve body question...

Reverse manual valve body question... - 05/31/08 03:04 AM

I just swapped out a 46RE for a CRT 727

With a reverse pattern manual valve body, when the shift lever on the transmission is all the way forward, is it in park or 1st?

I thought PRN321 is the forward pattern, wouldn't the reverse pattern be PRN123 on the B&M shifter.

What about on the transmission?
If the lever is all the way forward what gear is the transmission in?

You are correct. reverse pattern is PRN123.

I use a b and m mega shifter with my 727. It shows the regular pattern(PRN321) on the shift indicator.

Once you use it, you really don't need to be reminded where to shift it. It becomes quite obvious when you run it up to 20 mph, and it doesn't change gears

i picked up aftermarket shifter for my reverse pattern trans, has pistol grip, lock out gates and reverse pattern on the handle. best of both worlds!

B&M makes an reverse patttern indicator plate for the Megashifter.

But I stil need to know what gear the transmission is in when the lever on the transmission, (shifter unhooked) is in the full forward position.
On an automatic valvebody, that would be 1st gear....But does that change on a manual/reverse pattern valve body?

On the trans, park is to the rear. So with a reverse pattern v.b. the order is, starting with the lever forward, is 3, 2, 1, N, R, P. Hope this finally answers your question

Yes, it is now gear 3 on reverse body. Park is the other end of travel.
