Any BB superchargers of any manufacturer fit underhood? Baring the procharger type or Paxton type. Anything else?

Underhood of what?

Pretty sure nothing Roots based will fit, unless it's in a truck of some sort and even then.

B, E or C bodies.

No roots or screw type blowers will fit under the hood of a 60s-70s car when mounted on a V8.

You can probably fabricate some sort of valley cover and intake to use with an EFI system but you're on your own.

A blower under the hood will have to be centrifugal.

Personally, I prefer turbos. biggrin

You might have room under the hood of a C body to remote or front mount a roots type and duct the output thru a normal carb/intake setup. But that'd be "interesting" to say the least

There was a company in Australia that was building a whipple style top mount kit for the 426 Hemi... with a low profile air cleaner it fit under the hood of a Challenger at least (the main test car they used)

There were various issues with the setup though and it never really went any where...

I made this for a 67 coronet I had. The "kit" was for a BB Chevy, I adapter the main bracket and had the crank pulley drilled out for a BB Mopar. At the time (and as far as I know now) a Mopar kit was like 4k. This cost me $2200 including carb prep, gauges, and fuel system upgrades.

NO.... a small 471 would fit under a hood with a small scoop however it is pretty small for a 440.

Maybe with some K-frame spacers.

I'm strickly WAG ing here but the post reminded me of the "Magnacharger" supercharger kits of decades ago (iirc hood clearance was its bennie that was touted in addition to unGodly airflow/power output. It come out sideways on eac side as opposed to straight up like a Roots & dipped down and had 2 side draft? Dellorto carbs (also iirc). If I was to do one at first blush I'd go with the Paxton like what was pictured but I would definitely get familiar with the supercharged sites to gain some knowledge as I'm a newer than new newbie. I remember a quote in Hot Rod decades ago stating "that you are not ready for the power"

Why I asked about "other than" kits was that from what I can see there is little room for A/C and PS with a Procharger type system. Now I have checked the supercharger store and IMO they are way out there on pricing. All of the Magnacharger types I see today are from late model HEMI only?
So if you have a big block (440+) and want to make some decent power (700+ HP) and have it reliable and live on the street we can go turbo or supercharger. I cant see any other way to get to the HP goal. Thoughts?

Nitrous grin

A Kenne-Bell or Whipple would be nice if someone made an intake for a 440.

Buy a kit for a BB Chevy and modify it. That will save you thousands. You can relocate your alternator and use a small GM unit. I ditched my PS unit and but my battery in the trunk. You would want to mount it in the passenger side. One thing you also might want to do is ditch the big-old factory ac compressor and go with a small modern unit. That will free up a bunch of space.

I don't normally think of the words "Roots Supercharger" and "reliable and live on the street" all in the same sentence. I certainly get the desire for horsepower thing though.
