1969 2 door vs 4 door windshield

1969 2 door vs 4 door windshield - 05/06/16 06:18 PM

I can't find my interchange book at the moment, so this is why I am asking here.

My 1969 dodge coronet 4 door has developed a crack (from a long existing chip) and I will need to get a new windshield.

Will a 2 door windshield fit my 4 door?

Thanks in advance!

No it won't interchange. The 4-door windshield is taller than a 2 door.

Hmm... this is what I was afraid of.

Where would be the best place for someone get such a windshield? I would imagine they are kinda hard to find.

Might try Auto City Classic. They do all makes. I bought a quarter window from them and it came quick, well packaged and looks good. Just won't have factory markings.

Thanks! I will look into it. The crack in my windshield is a horizontal crack only 7 inches wide. There is a local restoration shop that supposedly specializes in glass repair and replacement for older classic cars. I am keeping my fingers crossed that maybe they can repair it before it spreads.

Just for fun, I will keep everyone posted.

No it cannot be repaired..

Use the Nags number ( National Auto Glass Association) I gave you when you call any auto glass shops or dealers.. It will make it really easy.....

Thanks for the heads up, I will be making some calls tomorrow. thanks for the NAGS number. That really helps.

If the windshield is different and harder to find, what about the window seal as well? Will a good glass shop be able to find these?

I will keep everyone posted.

Not cheap, especially with the shipping, but they are available.

Wanted to update this some...

The NAGS number makes it easy as it gives you the part # you need.. The actual part is probably going to be hard to find and expensive if you do...

Just kidding, found the seal.

Tell me about the light green tinted windshields. I don't know if I have ever seen this in person.

Three options for WS "color"... Clear, tinted, shaded...

Shaded is a tinted WS with the darker band across the top.

You will have to confirm the "tinting shade" with whoever your supplier is gonna be...
Could be anywhere from a blue to a green....

Thanks! The place I talked to said it had a green tint with the band up top. I may not have much of a choice based on availability. The windshield gasket/seal is on the way then I will order the glass. Thanks again!
