Need help 5.7 Hemi cutting out under acceleration - 04/29/16 12:36 AM

Hey Guys,

Need some advice on what might be wrong with my '04 1500 5.7 Hemi. I got an engine light the other day and the kid at Autozone said it was temperature related. Something about it not reaching temperature or something. I've been chasing an antifreeze leak, so when he said it was temp related, I didn't both to get the code. I thought it was related to it leaking and being low. However, today under acceleration at 4000 rpm approximately, it cut out. The tach stayed at 4000, but the engine wasn't running, it was just coasting. When I let off the accelerator it came back. I tried this a few more times and each time it cuts out around 4K rpm. Driving it with very light acceleration it seems to go past 4K with no problem. But, moderate to heavy accel kills it. Any ideas what this may be?

Thanks!!
Randy

The catalytic converter might be getting ready to take a dump on you

I just got back from running an errand, and it ran fine. Crazy Truck.

Took the truck out today on an errand and it ran fine. Don't know why it would have done that on just the one day.

Maybe, re-torque the intake bolts? I have done this on my 5.7L Challenger to cure that problem. The plastic intake expands & contracts and the bolts seem to come loose over time.

Oh, I should add that mine only did this while it was cold. Once it warmed up it went away for the rest of the time I was driving.

Thanks, I'll check the torque on them.
