Done! No more 70 B-body rallye dash woodgrain kits! - 04/28/16 11:23 PM

I had the vinyl 70 B-body rallye woodgrain bezel applique kit installed on my 70 Charger R/T, probably over 10 years ago.
The vinyl is lifting in some areas and I wasn't totally happy with it from day one.

I've tried to buy the new reproduction bezel kits from 2 different sources.

The first set was all dented and the color was off. The supplier checked a few other ones they had - all dented. I returned it and decided to wait a year or so, (thinking maybe they'll get them right eventually).

Attached pic is glovebox panel from the second set I just received. I just set it on my glovebox for comparison.

No dents, but I don't think you could get the color much worse than this!

This is worse than the first set. I'm done with these kits!

Maybe I'll try actual wood veneer - I remember seeing someone on forbbodiesonly doing something like that...oh well venting complete.

The vendor didn't really have anything to say, (they're just a distributor) - I'd rather not say who they are, since they aren't responsible for manufacturing these kits.

I can't tell who actually makes these - no markings on the parts, there are labels on the box - identifying these as "authentic" Mopar reproduction parts!

I thought there was a vendor that had various overlays; lighter, normal, cherry, graphite ...

Maybe what you received was just a mistake

Not sure what vendor that would be.
There weren't any color choices. As mentioned, this was labeled as authentic Mopar restoration parts.

I had a local Mexican carpenter make a real wood replacement for my '72 SSP phony plastic "wood grain" dash. He used a scrap piece of Alder wood he had laying around and charged me $25.00 U.S.

Description: Custom made Alder wood inlay
