E-Body engine mount

What are the best motor/engine mounts for an e-body? Auto stores have them really cheap, like $6.00 and I think NAPA has a premium set for $33.00. They all seen to be the same for right and left. Are these any good? What do y'all suggest? Thanks!

They'll do on a budget but over time you have to wonder when they'll let loose and make the engine jump out of the engine bay...It's a design flaw we've all had to live with until the "bolt through" style engine mounts came to be...Back in the old days guys chained/cabled the engine down for just such an event so you did'nt customize the hood,air cleaner and rad shroud... Schumacher's poly locs are an example of the new style mounts but the price are out of the park compared to the one's you're looking at.. Engine Mounts ... .Now, if one had the desire you could possibly convert the cheap mounts to a bolt through configuration..

Could always cut a piece of steel and fit it between the 2 metal pieces. A few minutes with a welder and it won't rip. Or you could buy the solid mounts from summit. I always run a solid mount on the drivers side.

Rubber mounts today are not near as durable as OE... I'm not sure why but failures in a few hundred miles are not uncommon. Hard launch will want to pull and tear the drivers side. I run the Schumacher poly's on a road track car (locking/thru bolt on drivers, regular on pass side) with good success over about 12 years.

Chains or straps on the drivers side can help. Or a steel mount on drivers side and regular rubber or poly on the pass side.

I just put a 505 "B" block in my Challenger and used the mity mounts from Dyna Tech. Not cheap but not as expensive as the Schumacher mounts. They're like a rubber mount but they kind of internally lock together so it won't pull apart like OEM rubber mounts.
I still plan to put a torque strap in just to be safe. I had a hot 440 get loose back in the day and I don't ever want to experience that again. It pulled the throttle cable out of the bracket and it went wide open. One heck of a smoke show!

I do have 2 original OE mounts in good shape, with slight cracking on sides of rubber. They may be a tad harder than new ones due to age, but as I said they are in really good shape. Would I be better off using these?

If the originals aren't distorted or deeply cracked, should be OK. At least better than new parts store mounts. If you are going to beat on it a strap would be a good idea in any case.
