Cam coatings ??? - 01/31/09 04:00 PM

When the oil additives changed did the cam manufacturers change the coatings they applied to the lobes or was ther really nothing new to be done in this area ?

I think more are going to a Parkerized finish that does a much better job of holding oil on surface during break in.
Didn't Comp announce a new finish a few months back? I haven't heard much about it...

I think Comp offers nitride treatment for cams now.

Is nitriding becoming mainstream now or is only on custom orders

Comp offers nitriding as an extra cost option, so I wouldn't say it was mainstrean.
