Water pump housing date.

How would you interpret this date code ?

I have the same question, I have a housing with the part number of 2780987 with appears to be a date code of 11-03.

Looks like the '62-'63 housing I sold on ebay years ago. I assume it's 1962 or '63 without seeing the casting number.

Didn't all the early , pre 1968, water pump housing have the alternator mounting hole centered closer to the center of the thermostat housing?

Your 2780987 fits 67-68 A Body 383, fits a 67 B Body 426, fits a 67-68 BC Body 383 440, fits a 68\69 B Body 426, fits a 69 ABC Body 383\440, fits a 71 BCE Body 383\426\440, fits a 67\68 BC Body 383\440, and a 70 BCE Body 383,426,440.

I see 12-21

1666 and older had the alternator bracket bolt on the thermostat boss, 67 and newer it was off of there towards the alternator. Cakes different alternator bracket with no hole in the center. The newer Mopar performance aluminum water pump housings have both bolt bosses on them.

Another quick tell is the two water neck bolts go all the way through the ears on 1966 and older housing, on 1967 and newer the holes bottom out in the casting, they do not go through to daylight.

It looks to be a 1971 housing if my memory hasn't failed me. I believe starting in '71, the funny looking triangle with a year next to it was used. I'll have to check my collection to be sure.

I don't think so. I thought that starting in 70 there would be a Pentastar on the inlet. There isn't one in this picture so I would say this is 69 or older.

I'm not really sure because it's been about ten years the last time I researched this.

Just checked a few housings. The pentastar moved around and wasn't always on the neck.. pictures coming soon. Still looks to be a '71

This the water pump from my 1970 Sixpack Heater Delete Superbee.

It's dated 06029 - 6/2/1969 exactly 2 months before the SPD of the car.

I know this is old post, but Mort, What are the numbers stamped on the upper driver side of the pump? I found a similar pump but has extra stamp.

So what's the mystery production date on this big block housing I have?
