Yes, there were a few D-Darts made for the D/Stock NHRA class and the on racing junk it a well known example. There is an ongoing thread on FABO about them. wave

The 273 v8 was rated at 275hp and weighing in at just over 2900 lbs. The car qualified for NHRA's D/Stock category.

Dodge's normally aspired high performance 273 was rated at 235hp. The extra 40hp the D/Dart produced was basic hotrodding. Off the speedshop shelf bolt on's included Racer Brown valve springs, a Camcraft 284-degree .500" lift cam, Doug's Headers, and a Holley 4160 bolted to the stock intake. All were equipped with the A-833 4 Speed and a Hurst shifter, Weber clutch components, and an 8 3/4 Suregrip with 4.86 gears. Unavailable for this car were air conditioning and a warranty. There were no external badging or markings to note the D/Dart package over a regular Dart GT.

Not sure how a D Dart is "lightweight" and the one in the link is no where near to factory delivered condition.

D/Darts were only lightweight because of the lack of options (no console, no radio). They were all steel bodies without any other weight reduction.

Darrel,
This is not my old car. My old car was the all white one that appeared on the auction circuit may times over the years. I think my old white car is in Ft. Worth Texas now. This car was owned by the same guy/guys that bought my old car and they had both cars restored.

The D/Darts were not really factory lightweight due to their components. They just were so light to begin with. They were built less radio, floor console and rear seat belts. Mustn't forget the weight savings of the seat belts. My current D/Dart is in Charlie Morris's Factory Lightweight book so I guess it is a lightweight.

I'm thinking about renting a u-Haul trailer and taking the D/Dart up to the Mopar Show in Melbourne next Saturday. Depending on trailer availability and the weather. Maybe we'll see you up there like always.

Sorry for the miss information on the Dart thought it was your old one. If you need a trailer let me know my Featherlite is available if you need it just give me a call. I think I might haul a few parts up in my truck.
