Y3 listed as Yellow Gold by Plymouth, not Cream.

That is bar none, the worst color you could get on a 1969 mopar of any kind.

its like a less than 15K miles example. Former local drag car.

here its again next to another local drag car. A12 car had less than 10K on it when it was put back on the street. I would;d guess this pic both cars combined have less than 25K between the 2 for mileage. Yellow car is original paint car too. A12 car was repainted. Ill try to find pic of its racing history

This looks Y2. Y3 is more mustard in color.

DY3 started as a '68 color (paint code "H"), Y3 for '69 & finally DY3 for '70

think, "manila folder" work

I always liked that color too. Back in 1969 a friend of mine had a Y2 Yellow 69 340 Dart Swinger with a black tail strip and cragar s/s mags. A really cool looking car back then.

A lot of state vehicles were ordered that color. Looks like vanilla milk shake. So bland it would make a pile of Limabeans blush.

I HATE the color. Its my first car. I've owned it since '73. Its down to the shell for a complete makeover - including ORANGE paint.

Just clear over epoxy primer and there you go.

It sure didn't take long for Y2 colored cars to be posted. Y3 is a much, much rarer color. I still haven't found an image of a fully restored car. Here's the closest I've come.

Is Y3 the Plymouth version of S1?

I think you are still confused about the color, the first response appears to be an original paint Y3 '69 Belvedere (I know it's not a Road Runner grin), "mustard" has NOTHING to do with it. Pics of a correctly restored Y3 anything is a tall order (see '70 R/T pic) - few would go thru the "hassle" for such a bland low-impact color.

1968 "H" - 1969 "Y3" - 1970 "DY3" are all the same color

Chrysler "antique ivory" - Dodge "cream" & "light gold" - Imperial "champagne" - Plymouth "yellow gold" are all the same color

On second look I believe you're right. The ad says it's Yellow Gold, hence my thoughts on it possibly being Y3.

maybe it was "yellow gold"?
scope are those original paint "Y3" spots showing thru a decades old "Bahama yellow" repaint primer

Re: 1969 Road Runner in Y3 Yellow Gold - 01/05/16 08:06 PM

I have no doubts this color is the rarest of the factory offerings for Plymouth Road Runners in 1969. Very scarce animals.
