2015 Scat Pack Challenger - 11/18/15 06:51 PM

Just curious, what do these cars really run from the factory? Also what are the best bolt on performance adders? Just throwing around the idea of selling my Coronet R/T and getting a Scat Pack. Thanks

Get an automatic or you will be running a lot slower with a stick in the quarter.

The car is fun but you can't really use it's potential on the street. As it's said it's fun to drive a slow car fast but absolutely no fun to drive a fast car slow.

Brakes are really good and the car handles well.

I'm trading mine off in a couple of months for a automatic. It's been fun with a stick but the automatic is where it's at. twocents

I have an SRT with the auto and it's very hard to keep under the speed limit( use the cruise a lot) plus I get 24 mpg. I could see high 11s pretty easy with a few add ons and TIRES. The last five hp cars I had where 6 speeds, not anymore. This one is the best, so far.

Scat Packs with the A8 are where its at. Quite a few of them running high 11's with nothing more than good rubber and a tuner, which in my opinion isn't a mod, it's nothing more that optimizing jets and timing in a muscle car

my ultra rare ivory cloth a8 ran 12.21 walking it with all season 245 ..some have got 11.60's with drag radial..thats hellcat territory...i daily it.....the 8speed is so awesome you guys have to get one....i drove my friends hellcat and the gearing was much longer....the scat has shorter gears with more high sprung feel...scat is more nervous feeling..

What's the advantage of the Hellcat air box, and how much difference did it make?

Re: 2015 Scat Pack Challenger - 11/23/15 04:59 PM

The hellcat airbox is the one that pulls air through a hollow inner light in the grill on the driver's side. A lot of people are buying the kits and installing it on the R/T's and Scat Packs. I think its about a 100$ or so.

So you can run high 11s with just drag radials and an air box upgrade?

Thanks, don't want to use my stock rims( SRT $$$) might try the junk yards for some off a 300 or Charger, guessing there the same, or even aftermarket. What is your staging procedure.

Re: 2015 Scat Pack Challenger - 11/23/15 09:31 PM

I didn't know the stock running light housing could be used. That makes the swap a lot cheaper.

I haven't had the car to the track yet but have tried many different ways to stage /launch it.....

Have to make a run so I'll be back later.....ok back.

I'll try to make this clear. If you recall from my post "thoughts on owning a scat pack", it's a 6 speed so launching it took some time to figure out what it wants. When it was stock(street tires) it looked like a Dodge commercial every time I even barely gave it throttle. Tire smoke and fish tailing wildly and OR violent wheelhop was normal. After a month of ownership I installed a Barton shifter, drag radials, mopar cai and a Speedhut shift light. In August I had the dealership install Energy Suspension poly rear cradle bushings. They are supposed to eliminate wheel hop according to some (un-named)sources.
so here it is..
1. stock, no traction at about any level of rpm launch. Serious wheelhop.
2. slicks, much better and tire/asphalt contact pattern still showing signs of skipping(wheelhop) about every 2 foot maybe.
3. Cradle bushings, the contact pattern much improved but still a slight skip showing up but much closer. About a foot apart now and that's launching the car on kill....
So what I found out is the car feels like a high 12 or low13 seconds if I roll out at about 2500 rpm regardless of where I power shift the next gears and the motor sounds like it's bogging.
but.. If I launch at about 5,000 and hit second right away to pull it out of tire spin and the slight wheelhop it builds up speed fast and feels like high 11s or low 12s to me.

That was my estimation of how fast mine will go if it had traction, good work getting yours that fast so far. Do you use the launch button? Sad to say I haven't figured it out yet, like a new toy, don't want to brake it. Absolutely love my car, and it flys. Better than back in the 60s. A new car couldn't run that fast off the showroom with just slicks or a LOT of work.

I played around with the launch control and it didn't work out,red lights and such.So I just went to footbrake rpms up to 2200 and launch, my 60 foot time was 1.695.And then the season ended,i feel like it has a little more with higher rpms off the line.

How durable is the drive train in these? I imagine fixing the rearend or transmission would be pricey.

Man that is flying for only having sticky tires!

Don't know the actual size but it's a larger aluminum case unlike the reg cast iron and with larger half shafts
