Identify this side molding on a '71 cuda

I've seen a number of '70-'71 cudas with the side molding as seen in the pictures below, some on Moparts members cars as well.
What is the story on this style molding?
I know that side molding could be ordered from the factory but it is not this style. The molding I've seen from the factory is all vinyl and appears to be adheared with a sticky tape. The molding in the pictures below appear to be an alumnium extrusion with a vinyl insert. Guessing the molding is attached with pop rivits and the vinyl then inserted?
Was this something that was available from the dealer or was it from an aftermarket source?

Aftermarket. I hate to actually admit this but I remember my brother doing this to his 71 Super Bee to protect it in parking lots. J.C. Whitney was a go-to source for this type of molding. Most of them had tension clips that slid into a channel on the back and you drilled holes in the body to mount it.

Agreed. That's the molding that was on my 71 Barracuda when I got it.

I was happy the car was not optioned for molding. I was not happy that this stuff was riveted on.

Now I have to weld the holes up before repainting.

i put the stick on molding back in the days but did not do the whole quarter panel, i stopped it short before the rear wheel..sort of like the front fender molding

I had it on my 1970 Barracuda when I got it.

Thanks for the replies. Seeing it so often on 'cudas got me to thinking it might have been a factory install. I guess the straight line beltline on the Barracudas lent itself well to this molding.
