Depends on your age..lol If you have a consol, it's a little harder.. if you have air,, pretty rough,, non air not too awful bad.. take out firewall bolts, take that bolt on the lower inside out,, by the kick pad, pull heater box out,, you have to pull the dash frame back yo clear the frame... Before you reinstall the new one, pressure check it.. I put a brand new one in my Charger, it leaked..

so there are a couple of extra nuts/bolts up inside the dash for some support hangers behind the radio, plus the electrical, and a cable hook up.
It has been a long time, but I seem to recall fresh air hookup? maybe thinking of my 65.

I left the seat, carpet etc all in, but removing the bottom nut holding the bottom of the dash frame in, let me pull it back enough to get some extra clearance to remove it. I don't remember the center console being a big deal to clear.

then you have to take the box apart to get the heater core out.
I think a member sells the seals again, or classic auto air carries them.

When working under the dash, always start by removing the negative battery cable.
No need to loosen the dash. Depending on the length and routing on the radio antenna cable, you may have to remove it from the radio to move it out of the way.

1) Remove the console top plate, unbolt console and slide it back
2). Remove the flat support strap on the interior side
3). Remove the defroster tubes
4). Unplug the wires from the resistor
5). The main wire harness is clipped on to the drivers side of the box, remove the harness from the clip
6). Drain coolant and remove heater hoses at firewall
7). Blow air into the heater core to remove the coolant
8). Heat and selector cables, I like to remove the whole selector panel from the cluster and push it forward out of the dash, then leave all cables attached at bothe ends. Remove all the cables and controls with the box.
9). unbolt the vent cable handle from below the dash
10). tape closed the tubes or use a small diameter cap to seal them. The cap will need to pass through the holes in the firewall, so duct tape is best.
11) Remove the 3 firewall bolts
12). Pull box out from the firewalltowards the rear of the car until the tubes are through the firewall holes, rotate the box so the tubes point to the floor and the box comes right out of the car.
13). The firewall side of the box has a bolt on sheet metal cover to remove and get at the core.

7). Blow air into the heater core to remove the coolant

for this, if it is already leaking, make sure you have a catch under where it will leak inside.
you may already have coolant in the carpet, but if you don't, it is a pain to get out.
