2004 Dakota Brake Line Replacement Question

2004 Dakota Brake Line Replacement Question - 08/18/15 08:41 PM

My Dakota blew the steel brake line that runs from the front to the back recently. New one arrives tomorrow.

Do I need to drop the fuel tank to change out this line?

Thanks!

Probably not but it would make it easier. Why did you get a prebent line?

I just did my 2000 dakota. unless you have a hoist or don't care how it is ran you can leave the tank in. I bought the pre bent from the dealer and wanted it in place, I had to remove the gas tank to get to all the clips and bolts for the brackets. I ended up replacing all the steel lines. just made the rest though. you will need a bubble flare tool and multiple size METRIC fitting. and time. between chasing down the fittings and laying on my back and dealing with rust, It took a weekend. I have done hundred of lines in a shop. wasn't my first rodeo. not fun on your back.

I ordered the pre-bent line. And I will be on the ground doing this one. LOL
