R only was for regular fuel, but this block is stamped as HP which would require premium fuel.
There was no code for RD, and there was no code for D only.
Maybe it stands for Reserch and Development?
I have never seen it before.

Is there a VIN# on the block?I'd think it is a prior owner's initials added to the pad?

Not sure vin# is there or not???
Just purchased car - will know next week.
But I think the stamp looks very authentic.

Was talking to the owner & broker last week, needs the hood scoops painted black (V21)!

I don't think any blocks were stamped for research and developement because experimental motors were normally torn apart and the blocks destroyed.

I agree - the black scoops look fake on most cars.
But - I think on this hemi orange with the black transverse stripe and maybe black steel wheels painted orange with the black vinyl top - the black scoops may/will look goood? Can always go back to orange again.

What "makes" that car is the fact that it is a "SPRING SPECIAL" car.
The package (on a Super Bee) included:
Hood paint
Hood pins
"Road wheels"
RWL Polyglas tires
& a few other items

I didn't think they came with black scoops, unless it was a black car, in which case the scoops would be gloss black...

A local guy has an orignal paint EV2 69 Super Bee Spring Special car, definately organisol...

Thanks, I learned something. Didn't know that option existed for the Coronet body, and have never seen one, only body-color.

I have a set of stamps that are very close to factory stamps. I stamp every motor I do with something different. I usually use my initials and the actual cubic inch of the build.

Mid-Year options for the 69 Bee were: (J45) Hood Tie Down Pins and (V21) Performance Hood Treatment. Only available with (N96) hood and only the scoops were black.

If it were a factory stamping it would mean May 5th assembly date, but that looks like it was milled off and someone probably stamped the C.I.D. of the rebuild on it as in a 505 stroker.
