source for SB distributor bushings? - 01/22/09 07:52 PM
Ive gotten these from the local parts store before but they don't seem to have a listing for them anymore. Where next; Berry Bearing/Motion Industries or Fastenal type place? or does someone have an automotive aftermarket (like Borg Warner, Standard, Sorenses, etc) part number handy? I have 3 of them here to redo. (NEED 2 now 1 will be a spare)

Last one I bought was from the dealer. Summit also has them.

You talking about the bushing inside the distributor housing or the oil pump drive bushing in the block?
Different bushings altogether.

You may want to check at Home Depot. I have seen
those kind of bushings in the section where you find the different drawers that have acorn nuts, speed nuts, etc. It's in the aisle where you find nuts and bolts.
I've seen what looks like that style of bushing but have not tried them. I don't know if they are oil impregnated.

Dealers should still have them. They fit many years. Both big and small block.

I'm wanting the ones in the distributor housing itself.

There's nothing special about the distributor bushings, they're just industry standard oil-impregnated bronze (Oil-lite) bushings. The dimensions are:
OD= .625"
ID= .500"
Length= 1.00"
The bushing used in the iron Prestolite unit has an oil hole drilled about half-way down its length to align with the oil cup on the distributor housing.
