Alternator windings Burn spot

must be time for a new alternator now that I noticed a hot burn spot in the lower windings. I would think that this cannot be normal?

BTW - engine is off after a few minutes in this picture!

Looks like either a phase-to-phase or phase-to-ground short. It may be possible to separate the connection that isn't supposed to be there and reinsulate with insulating varnish. Or you could just get a different one.....
