dart stalls when in drive when I stop, runs fine otherwise - 08/09/15 04:56 PM

My dart has a 383 with new edelbrock carb. Once the choke lets off it will stall when in drive when I stop. Is this just an idle adjustment? or a lean issue? I don't know a lot about carbs. In neutral it idles fine. Need help.

does not stall in drive while the choke is still on? might be as simple as going more CCW on the idle mixture screws to richen the idle. Not sure if float setting affects idle A/F but are they set correct? I'm assuming initial and idle speed are in the ballpark. blasting a 3 second shot of brake kleen into each idle mixture port may help & if it does (by itself) then for sure get a good filter on there right before the carb inlet. just some stuff to try

hard stop or just a cruising up to a stop sign stop? this is an auto car correct? do what my friend Robert suggested. hard stop would most likely be a float level issue a cruising stop would most likely be a mixture issue. this is of course aSSuming your timing is correct or 'close enough' smile
