Can I get 295/50 15 on the rear of a 1971 challenger 4.5 backspace on 15x8 rims? Thanks

Yes, but you have to run them at lower inflation pressures (25-28)to get full tread contact. Lower pressure leads to greater deflection when cornering and increased heat while driving. Heat is a big factor in the tire carcass degrading so it is by no means an optimal set up. The flip side is to run them at higher pressure (28-32)and wear out the center of the tires because of all the crown you get from putting them on too narrow a rim.

What rear end do you have?

Factory 3.23 posi rear end. I've used these tires on 8" rims before on my 71 Road runner with no issues. The tires are spec'd for an 8-10" rim, so I'm fine with the rim size. I'm just not sure if the wheel well is same from the E body vs B as far as being able to tuck these in?
Thanks

On my '73 challenger I ran a 295/50 15 t/a, 8" wheel with 4" b/s, stock rear end. Couldn't fit my fingers between the tire and the springs or the wheelwell lip. And they'd rub on both when cornering, especially with anyone in the back seat. Stock springs, probably sagged a bit, but not too low. Finally took them off and went with a narrower tire.

Thank you, that's what I was looking for!
I may have to do a 3/4" spring off-set and run a different backspaced rim...

Get the relocation kit from dr diff and run a b body rearend. It's a bolt in and with a 10" rim with 5.5" back space you can run that tire easy! I have 325-50's under my cuda with this setup and rolled fender lips.

I had the BFG's 295/50 15s mounted and put on my 71 e-body. Fit with plenty of room to the springs and the wheel lip. Keeping the rear of the car some what solid though so there is no chance of a rubbing.
Very satisfied with the fit. Rims are 15x8 4.5 offset

Deerlodge, what springs did you have? And do you have a picture by chance?

Stock hemi style springs. I'll try to get a pick to post.

295 50 15 is a little too wide to run on an 8" wide rim.
