Exhaust Cutouts - 07/25/15 06:16 PM

I want to get the manual exhaust cutouts for my car like the ones in the link below, just wondering how much clearance is needed between the pipes and the floors to fit these ? It's just that my pipes are quite close to my floors although there still is a bit of a gap, i'm assuming the biggest problem will be the welding on the side closest to the floor pans ? I will try and do measurements, thanks

They should fit I have them on my 65.Just adjust the cut outs so they aim away from the floor. The diamater is the same as a pipe.Rocky

I've got a pair like those in the box sitting around in the garage, if you wanted any measurements, etc off them..just say. up

You might need to drop down the exhaust to have room to weld it in perhaps though for the top side?

Depends if the pipe diameter is a slide fit over your pipes then a regular exhaust clamps will work fine..even if you use a exhsust pipe union sleeve.

No..i think its a mental thing..you do have to tune the engine to run in open header mode..thats why sometimes you see cars with a little pipe to extend it out a little..has something to do with exhaust draft or excavation. ..but it sounds awesome..

I like to use the Walker band clamps, they don't crimp your pipes like the regular muffler clamps do. Then I put a small screw through the clamp and pipe to prevent anything from slipping apart even though the Walker clamps hold tight. The Summit Racing band clamps are complete junk and don't clamp tight.

If you run a quiet, restrictive exhaust system the cutouts are going to make the car a couple tenths quicker. If you run a 3" system with an x-pipe and good mufflers, the cutouts may not do much.

On a side note, I installed DMH electic 3" cutouts on my big block Duster and it is by far the coolest thing I've ever installed on a car, they are a blast.
