A833 shifter lever stud replacement

Finally found my shifting problem with my 4 speed. The rectangular part of the shifter lever stud that sticks out of the side cover and the operating lever slides onto is rounded off and the operating lever has slop in it. Is there a way to just replace that part or do I have to pull the side cover off and change the whole lever assembly?

Remove side cover and replace it.

You can get replacement shift shafts from Passon Performance just send your old ones to him and he will send remanufactured ones that will work like new.

Thanks for the responses. I have a spare 4 speed so I'm just going to use the one from that transmission.

I am a big fan of steel shift forks if you are going to beat on it. Too many night driving home stuck in 3rd gear for me to use the stock stuff.
