if i remember correctly, the center hole on the wheels is 2.810, which is the common size on all 2 wheel drive factory wheels. i'm sure the cop wheels will work on your truck.

Easy-peasy. Mopar wheels were interchangeable from the early '30s up to the last RWD automobile. Early pickups, even the 3/4 tons, used the 5 on 4 1/2 bolt circle. There were some 5 on 5.5 but I think they were all after 1972 on trucks

You may run into trouble with offset, though.

I swapped the 16 x 4 1/2" rims on my '64Dog with a set of 15 x 6 1/2 wheels and tires off a 1973 Newport. Everything bolted together fine, but steering turned into a beast. The car wheels had some offset which moved the center of rotation (vertical axis) away from the center of the tire.

I replaced those tires and wheels with some white spokes which were pretty much zero offset and even with a much larger tire, it steered better.

I could have used a spacer to move the Newport wheels out but I didn't think of it then. Plus, the lure of the white spokes had me in its grip.

Today I'm using Crown Vic police car wheels, 16 x 6 1/2. They bolt up to the front end with no trouble, the hub on the rear axle is just a smidge too large. The right way would be to machine out the hole to the correct diameter. I solved the problem with a 1/4" spacer. I like the stealth look of the black 18 hole cop wheels (1998 to 2002). Think I'll complete the look with a set of chrome acorn lug nuts, though I'll probably really go to stainless steel.

I don't know if any of this is true since I don't know 30s or 40s vehicles.

I've never seen a 3/4 ton truck with a 5 on 4.5 inch bolt pattern. The late 50s trucks through present never had them.

The 69-74 1/2 ton 4wd trucks had the 5 on 5.5 inch bolt pattern. The 61-68 1/2 ton 4wd trucks had 8 lug bolt pattern and used the same axles as 3/4 ton trucks.

Yes, the Police Wheel will fit a 70 D100.

the "automatic" hub 4x4 trucks & ramchargers had the 5 on 4 1/2" pattern 15x8 wheels every body wants. the 4x4's with locking hubs were 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern. as to 3/4 ton pattern ? i'm almost positive those were 8 bolt starting sometime in the 60's. the 30's to the 80's plus rear drive cars and 2wd pickups [with exception of some dodge limo types, desotos and imperials which had a 5 on 5" pattern] were all 5 on 4 1/2 pattern along with the above mentioned 4x4's with "automatic" hubs.

Hey, I was surprised by it too. Someone on a past Mopar board found a 1939 dodge in a barn. The truck model was a 3/4 ton and I was surprised to see the 5 on 4.5" bolt circle.

The truck hadn't been modified, beyond the usual farmer baling wire and spit repairs.

I recall my 30's and 40's Mopars used wheel bolts, not studs and nuts. There was an alignment pin on the hub to help hold the wheel in place while putting the bolts in. Pretty sure later rims do not accommodate that feature without drilling. IIRC, the cop car rims I test fitted to my 38 Plymouth coupe had holes in the right spots but needed drilled out a hair.

They will fit i had them on a 70 D100 i ended up taking the front ones off though and put the stock ones with skinny tires to make it steer easier because of no p/s .

you are correct on the lug "bolts" and alignment pin. you can grind off the pin and use "allen" set screws for studs in 1/2 20 thread size, but i forget the length needed. just clean the holes good and blue or red loctite 'em in. or take the drum off and use 1/2 20 x 2" axle bolts with the thin hex obtained from the popular axle makers.[or our own "dr diff]. if you have room, i have used 2" long[all threaded] 1/2x20 regular grade 8 allen cap screws in front hubs i have converted to disc brakes. the heads clear with about .100 clearance on the spindles. this has been on several round tube 30's straight axle spindles.

Stainless steel acorn lug nuts? I don't think there is any such thing for car/truck wheels, though if you find some I'd like to know about it. Chrome ones always rust eventually in my experience. I've seen solid stainless steel lug nuts marketed for trailer wheels (and some people use them on cars/trucks without issue according to online reviews), and Gorilla makes some with stainless steel caps. Stainless steel lug nut washers are available as well (used on shank/mag type lug nuts).
