Best? Well that depends on a lot of things. I've found that NGK BCP6ES stock # 4930 works well for most street/strip type engines. It's a medium heat range projected nose plug that's cheap and easy to read.

I don't remember which ones I put in mine when it was rebuilt. I know when I got it back from the painter they were completely junk. Replaced them with a set of the E-3's about 11K ago and no problems...

Thanks gents. My bad, it's for my kids car. I should have asked what plug is recommended. My kid didn't know and asked the AutoZone guy, who didn't know either 
. The story I was told is that they crossed referenced a plug for a 1970 454 chevy and that's what was installed

That plug is the same physically as the plugs that came in my '72 Nova.
So I'd suggest either you look that car up on Rockauto, or else you could try Autolite 25s or AC CR43TS. Those are at the colder end of the scale. There are a lot of other plugs for the application but I'd start with the ACs. They are a surprisingly good plug in my experience.

that chevy plug is a 3/4" reach vs the stock 3/8" reach plug. long story short; DON"T! there never was a "peanut plug" made for the big block mopar iron head.

Later BB motorhome heads used the 5/8" hex tapered-seat peanut plug and some on this forum report 452's with that plug.

452 castings were made with both style plugs, many of them use the "peanut" style plugs. We've had several hundred of them on the shelf here at our shop.

i believe there was a small block chevy head, early '70's (?), that had a 5/8" hex 3/8" reach plug. maybe that would work? don't remember if it was a tapered seat or not.

I run a set of 452 heads and just installed autolight 23 5/8" hex tapered seat "peanut" plug.
my 440 is from a 77 1 1/4 ton chassis motorhome.
the heads I swapped on this weekend, another 452 set got a set of the AL23 plugs as well.
but when I asked the machine shop(chebby guy)he said they are machined for the flat washer style plug but the tapered seat plug will seal.
AL23 are what was in it and the plug hole/seat look the same to me with no leaks so far.

I HAVE RUN CHAMPION CJ8 WITCH IS A SMALL 2 STROKE PLUG USED THEM SINCE 1997 0N 440 .030 OVER WITH 906'S RUNS GREAT NEVER A PROBLEM AND TONS OF ROOM BUT YOU DO HAVE TO CUT DOWN THE PLUG BOOTS A 1/2"

That is good to know..the CJ8 lawn mower plugs. Since I have some massaged 906 heads on my race 440 and header selection is still an open question that could be useful. Of course, I could simply run a set of individual pipes straight up and out through the hood and avoid the whole issue of clearance and burning my fingers while changing plugs. And it could be very entertaining when racing at night and I would be the only one on my block like that. 
But first I have to test the idea...

Lewtot, yes there was a chevy in the '70s that used the plug. I had one and said I did in my first post. 3/8, tapered seat, short reach, 5/8" plug wrench.

my concern was putting a 3/4" reach plug (big block chevy) in a head designed for 3/8" reach and maybe a plug to piston collision.

NGK 2771 UR5 is what i run in the small 5/8 taper seat plug BB heads.
The only DODGE app. the books show for these plugs is a 1974 dodge m300 or m400 which is a class A motorhome chassis.

I just pulled the plugs and Autolite 25's were installed. Judging from the dry, dark gray/black coating on the plugs they look to be too cold... and rich. Don't know what the jetting is, will have to check on that. These plugs have been in the motor for the last two years. With this info what would you all suggest?
