1971 windshield wiper malfunction question

1971 Charger SE. The wiper blades will not retreat to the parked position under the hood. They are stuck just about 3 inches above the chrome bezel on the base of the windshield.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Assuming there is no binding in the linkage when the wiper motor is removed, I would think the problem is internal to the wiper motor. The stop position switch is internal to the motor to the best of my recollection.

You will need a parking kit to fix it
