Spark Plug replacment on 5.7L Hemi Ram - 03/19/15 08:56 PM

When have you guys been changing plugs on 5.7L Rams? I think that I saw somewhere that they said 70,000 mile recommended service is plug change...?

My 2011 has 73,000 miles (give or take) and runs just fine, plenty of power, good mileage, no issues at all. When should I consider changing plugs?

Then, when I'm due, how hard is this? Simple as any, or tricks/special tools needed?

What spark plugs are you replacing the factory ones with? Looking for suggestions on this issue.

Thank you!

Probably should change them before they weld themselves into the heads, and yet I can't help but wonder if its better to leave well enough alone

When I had my 2012 I was researching this, and you are recommended to change spark plugs at 36k miles. The 2013 and up Ram's come from the factory with platinum plugs that are supposed to last until 100k.

OK, thank you! Platinum plugs go 100K on '13-up but what did '12-down have? Copper? Old style Champions?

You should change yours every 32,000 miles per Chrysler. 2014 and up is every 100,000 miles per Chrysler.

OK, thank you!

Any advice on replacement plugs? Would upgrading to platinum allow me to go 100,000 til the next set?

Thanks!

What's the trick to changing #7 plug? Access prettymuch blocked by master cylinder?

On the back plugs, you have to drop in the plug socket, then the "right size" extension, then put on the ratchet. Once its loose, ratchet off, extension out, magnet on the socket, and/or plug.

I have changed the plugs on my '03 at 30K, then 70K. Both times I thought the plugs looked great and it was kind of a waste.

My 04 had regular resistor Champions in it. I do them ever 36k. Pretty easy to do other than the 2 new the brake master

Snap-on makes a socket that is thin enough to go into the opening also best get a locking extension too so you don't loose the socket in there.

Short extensions like pulling pipe out of a well. anti seize on new plugs and a magnet to get plug socket if it drops down.

36000 miles or 50,000 km they say not to use platinum if it don't call for them something to do with computer so I'm told at least. I put same champs back in runs perfect guess I'm do to do it again any day now. :-(

I can't believe anyone would choose to leave spark plugs in for 100,000 miles. They get pretty cozy in there and are a pisser to break loose at that point.
