24 Tooth Speedo Pinion Req'd - 03/12/15 09:42 AM

My speedo reads slow. After checking the chart in the tech area of this forum I realize I need a 24 tooth pinion.
I've looked at the normal parts outlets and nobody seems to supply one that small.
Can any of you suggest a supplier for this part please?

A&A Transmission in Indianapolis shows a 25 tooth as their smallest. You might have to settle for that.

mopar part old number 2538924 and new number 3410024
the 24 tooth gear would take a special adapter too http://www.brewersperformance.com/products.asp?cat=61 http://www.brewersperformance.com/products.asp?cat=277

I do not currently have a 24T in stock, you need to call A&A. He has more parts than on his website.

If you ain't already I would suggest "rollout" to confirm the exact tooth pinion you need (especially since you need a rare size). There also is a mini reduction gearbox the size of your fist that goes inline on the speedo cable to fine tune adjust the speed also. I have one but no pic at the moment.

FWIW, I could never find a gear for my pushbutton 65 trans and the adapter is very expensive. I went with a heads up display GPS speedometer Gtop HG100. There are a lot of GPS speedometers around to choose from. What's cool is you can change tires, gears, whatever, it doesn't care.

Any recommendations on the best gear tooth calculator?
I am looking at the same situation but want to make sure the speedo gear is as correct as possible. These things have gotten expensive. I remember when they were 1/2 the prices they are today.

Got any more details? What's involved, cost, reception?

Speedometer - Free - Speed Limit Alert with Map, HUD and GPS Black Box Recorder by Stanislav Dvoychenko

Great product. Free for basic, couple of bucks for upgrade. Perfect for checking out accuracy of speedo and odometer.

The more teeth you have on your 'driven' gear on speedo cable, the slower your speedo reads compared to your actual true speed. The drive gear is the one on trans tail shaft. Contrary to op's thoughts, I believe you need a driven gear with fewer teeth, not more.

When does the ground war begin?
