I've heard they are sometimes easier to read from the back.

Thanks>> NOT this one. lol

I know its a 318-2 with a 727
I have always considered it an inposter.

its a BS23 with all the Cuda trim and track pak,
Bulge hood with 340 call outs.

Guess it got the 318 for insurance purposes in the 70's

Had the car 20 years, time to get it back on the road

Plan is mild 340 with a A-500 trans
and the 3.55SG that is already there

I think your J32 might be J52 - inside hood release.

You could have tried taking a piece of paper, placing it over the tag, and start shading on the paper. It might give you a better reference as to what the shape of the letters are.

Tried that
still couldn't read the upper left

That's why I asked here,
Thanks everyone

Dave had the info needed
Dan is also correct> Green buckets

I was just interested what was factory

Cars this old, no telling what has been changed, over time

When I got the car it had some interior, one seat,
no eng / trans

Have all the parts to finally put it together.

Waiting on warmer weather to paint

Another method of reading a rusty tag. Take pics from different angels. Looking at them on your PC, try playing with the brightness, saturation, colors etc. Sharpen the image and zoom in on it.You can sometimes pick out numbers that couldn't before. Has worked for me.
