70 challenger bulge hood scoops

Down to the last Detail! Hello folks, I attempted to install my freshly painted scoops with my black inserts in my 70 Challenger bulge hood. However, there looks to be a "backing Plate" or something that the black inserts screw thru. I have the special 8 small screws with captive washers, however, what am I missing that attaches to the back of the scoops themselves. Clear pics would be of great help and also point me in the direction to buy original parts. Thanks, Steve

The pot metal scoops each have two vertical strips and both have a hole in them. The black insert would screw to the holes in these two strips. Sounds like somebody cut the strips from your pot metal scoops...
