My factory parts manual shows only one timing cover. Part number is
2951 671.

Yep. Same number for 318, 340 & 360, 1970-71.

Surprisingly not much of a problem. I just got done sleepin' one off and the parts book was on the floor next to me where I dropped it last night. Maalox and coffee anyone?

What different about a 340 6pk engine timing cover vs. a 340 4 bbl timing cover ?

Would the casting date for a 340-6pk would be different than a 340-4bbl built on the same day ?
