Keissler transmission question

Purchased a keissler 5sp years ago. Finally getting towards the end of my first and last restoration. My question is do I need to use the spring on the clutch pedal since it is a hydraulic clutch. Nothing in the install instructions says anything about having to use the spring.I assume the hydraulic pressure keeps the pedal up. Thanks.

Actually you don't need it with the mechanical linkage although lots of people have been led to believe that you do. I won't get into the details of that since I've covered it before. The only hydraulic clutch that I have any experience with is on my '14 Mustang GT. It uses a helper spring to help push the clutch in. I think that once you have the clutch and transmission installed I would look up inside with the dust cover removed and see if the throw out bearing is riding on the clutch fingers. If it's not you're good to go. I think you're probably correct in thinking that the hydraulic throw out bearing will retract enough to keep it off the clutch fingers. If not then you'll have to find some way to keep it from riding on the clutch fingers. Good luck.

I run the Keisler hyd. set ups in 2 vehicles , there's no need for anything but the pedal itself, depending on the style (FTE or Wilwood/Keisler) of master, you'll end up removing the welded stud that was used to connect the OEM clutch pedal/Z bar rod/clips, and after mounting the hyd master cylinder you'll need to properly locate the heim end of the hyd master pushrod to it's intended pivot point on the clutch pedal, drill, and either create a thru hole / or drill-tap depending on the heim end stud

FYI... the hyd throw out bearing supplied by Keisler (FTE manufactured) is actually intended to have a predetermined pre-load on the clutch fingers regardless of cover style, the TOB is designed to withstand substained engine RPM in a constant state, unlike a factory OEM TOB....
