I remember reading some bad things about Mopar Create motors. What's the consensus on these? I think the going prices are around $14k.

Thank for your thoughts!

Old engines done BY Cummins Recon were a crap shoot with CRAP being the big winner.

The New Crates are built by different shops now and supposed to be as advertised , ready to go . I think the 426/465 is 15k now ?

I found on in a create but I wonder how I would know which builder built it? The present owner bought it within the last 2 years and has not used it.

If I was to buy a Hemi crate motor, new or old, it would have to be cheap enough that I could take it to a trusted Mopar builder to be torn down and checked out.

If not, I would have a new Hemi built by a reputable shop from scratch.

If you are looking for info on those motors online you would get better results by using the spelling CRATE motor. Create means to make, crate means packing box.

there are two different part numbers, i cannot remember right now, but i think the it ends in AE, the on that ends in AC AVOID.. if the motor was made at tail end of 2008 or after yopu should be good, stanton eingeneering was making them and they used the world block!!! thats the one you want!!! the current ones do not use world block, so if its a few years old odds are it has it,,,

they came on a black stand in a big blue clam shell. 10k would be a nice price... if its taking up space in buddies garage....

Is the part number tag still available that would have been on the box surrounding it ? That will tell you when it was built. I don't think anything came from Cummins palletized like that. If that is a WORLD block I don't think it's a Cummins Recon motor and should be good to go , I'd at least remove the intake and have a look , rotate it over and make sure the lifters at least all spin.

EVERYONE would love to buy a 15k engine for 10k , I'll buy all that are available ...

The bad thing is any warranty the motor had is no longer any good and you are on your own, Chrysler banked on that when they sold them, most never got them installed and running within the 90 day warranty period.

I've spent a couple thousand correcting everything that was wrong with the one I bought in 2005.

Cummins was long gone before the World block came out, IIRC.

Is there a definite way to determine its a world block?

I see freeze plugs. Can anyone tell if this is a World Block?

Yes. The extra freeze plugs and the extra oil feed to the pump = World
