A body Fuel Sending unit removal question

A body Fuel Sending unit removal question - 01/06/09 04:28 PM

Its been awhile since I removed a sending unit from an A body. Does the tank need to be lowered or dropped to allow removal of the sending unit? Or can I just pull it out as it sits? The vehicle in question is a 72 Dart.I want to remove the sender to check for a sunk float.

I suppose it wouldnt hurt to raise the rear end and support the frame on jackstands to allow the rearend to hang, allowing some clearance?

Just raise it up, you don't have to remove the tank. Good Luck! Ronnie in Okla.

On an abody, just pull the sending unit... on my '73 ebody not so lucky... it is in the way of the exhaust...

One of these makes the job a lot easier:

I did the job today,I used a Brass Drift and hammer and lightly tapped the ring loose. Installation was easier ,I installed a new gasket and the locking ring pretty much screwed right into place with a little tension.
