Mystery 440 block

Mystery 440 block - 11/24/14 01:52 AM

I have a 440 block with a casting number of 2536430, which, by several sources, makes it a 67-72 block.

The pad on the passenger side at the bottom is blank.

The top pad has markings in font much larger than I have seen on passenger cars - photo attached. There are coarse machining marks; don't know if that's factory, or not.
Marine block, perhaps?

Anyone know?

Robert

I've never seen a factory block stamped in that direction. All the ones I've seen are stamped to read correctly as if the were installed in a car and you could read them from the radiator side. Also the font does not look like anything I've seen from the factory. I think someone just stamped the motor for their own purposes.

Nope. Nothing stamped on the bottom.
